My immediate reaction to this was, "OHMYGOD, OHMYGOD, YES!!!" The idea of there being more to read after Light is unbelievably exciting, yes, but it sounds like something that could go wrong and end up being a mistake that shouldn't have even been attempted.

*cough*cough* Joey after Friends *cough*

^ But some spin offs were even bigger than the predecessor like The Simpsons, Frasier, and Daria. Angel was a good show too.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
You money making sack of garbage!!! You do not ruin the final book to your series so you can MAKE MORE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are such an incompetent writer that you cannot end a series properly, you do not drag it out. That is not what you do!!!!! Why can't you answer people's questions? Light will probably be about 500 pages like its precedors right??? THAT ISNT ENOUGH TIME?!!!!!!!!! What other huge amounts of garbage is filling up that book??

^ I don't think he's doing it to make more money. I haven't watcehd the video myself yet (wi-fi is being all laggy atm) but from what Sunny stated, MG is considering writing another book so as to answer the fan's questions.

Personally, I wouldn't be able to say until I'd read Light. For all we know, we might end up reading it and feeling content with the ending and not requiring that extra book. And it could also go the other way.

I think that a 'prequel'-esqe novel focusing on the Coates kids could be interesting and would probably work well, but that's not exactly what MG's talking about here. I'm sure that after writing Light he'd be pretty sick of the FAYZ and the characters and would probably just want to get away from them for now.

Light should be able to answer all our questions. The Gone series has a lot of pages. He has shown time and time again that he is somewhat competent when it comes to writing. He is deliberately ruining his series so that he will earn money on this...thing and I am calling him out on this scam.

1.) It's not definitive that he's writing it yet. He's asking if anyone's interested.

2.) He never actually said it was going to be a book, or at least it doesn't look that way from Sunny's post. He also never said it would be something we had to pay for.

3.) What's wrong with him wanting to make money? I hate to burst your bubble, but writing is a business. Yes, MG enjoys writing. It's not generally a profession you go into if you don't. But it's also his job, and people like to make money off of their jobs.

4.) It doesn't even exist yet. How do you know it's "ruining" the series?

1) He is getting people's hopes up that there will be more Gone. that is it
2) He said he would put it on Amazon and charge for it
3) It is a problem when you wait until you have a large, strong and devoted fanbase and then scam little kids out of their money.
4) He said himself it wouldnt answer all the questions. He is choosing to be an incompetent writer.

*cries*
I had a feeling something like this would happen. The fact that he wouldn't be able to answer all the questions.
Not sure if I would like another book. Maybe. I mean if another one came out I would obviously buy it. But ehh I am really not decided on this yet.

I would personally wait until LIGHT is out, then maybe ask the fans would they like some kind of follow up. It might not work that way, I don't know, but thats my opinion.
LIGHT is the only book other than The Mark of Athena that I'm waiting for. In my eyes, I won't be thinking about what I didn't read, but of what I did. So if you get me, if he thinks that LIGHT might not answer our questions, well why not just wait until we've read it? We can see if there is something missing, and then give each of our opinions.
I would love another book, don't get me wrong. GONE has got to be the most amazing book I've read all year, and I've read a few. But its not fair for him to slave over another book, and we all have a general idea about what happened in this that and the other.

1) This is a bad thing because...?
2) Yeah, okay. This is still his job. He has bills to pay, too. And groceries don't buy themselves, nor does a mortgage pay itself off. Do you see where I'm going with this?
3) He's not "scamming" anyone (least of all little kids, this fan base is mostly teenagers). A "scam" would be if you paid for a book and then never heard from the person who sold it to you again because they took all the money they made and ran off to Tahiti to live the high life. If he writes it and if people buy it, they will get the thing they bought with their money, which is called a "business transaction".
4) This is in no way definitive. In order for LIGHT to not stretch on forever and ever, he has to end it somewhere. That somewhere may well be when the barrier comes down. Which is a good, dramatic ending for a story, even though (gasp!) it leaves several questions, such as how the FAYZ kids will reintegrate or what happens to their powers, unanswered. It is not always incompetent to leave threads hanging.
